Mulino di Cortina - Vermiglio
The epic of the valley and its inhabitants lives on in this historic building that opens its doors to its visitors to tell a key aspect of the local culture and economy.
Once upon a time there was a mill around which the entire local economy revolved. A place, a point of reference, that has always influenced the lives of the inhabitants. A structure of uncertain origin – no one can say with certainty when it was built – remained in operation until the second half of the 1950s when the first glimmers of the economic boom definitively upset the local peasant system. Restored in 2016, the mill opens its doors to visitors to tell the epic story of the place and its inhabitants. The rite of grinding, the almost primordial economic system that transformed cereals into currency of exchange and the life of people with its rhythms and its centuries-old dynamics revive today in this fascinating ethnographic space.
