The Italian War History Museum
In the castle of Rovereto, memories of the Venetian rule and of the Great War
- Armies and wars between the 19th century and the Great War
- The castle and weapons between the 16th and 18th century
- It is an unmissable stop for all history lovers
Since 1921 it has been a point of reference for history buffs, above all thanks to the main section dedicated to the Great War: the exhibited collection in fact includes uniforms, weapons and equipment of soldiers, as well as an authentic Nieuport-Macchi Ni.10 biplane. The windows also tell the story of the civilian population and the refugees who faced the most dramatic consequences of the conflict.
In the towers of the castle, the collection of weapons of the modern age (16th-18th century) is exhibited: armor, sidearms and firearms, dueling and hunting.
The museum is home to interesting temporary exhibitions and in the summer it is also possible to visit the recently renovated "Artillery of the Great War 1914-1918" section in the nearby Piazza Podestà.
