Centro Visitatori - S. Martino di Castrozza

This small but interesting Visitors' centre in the Paneveggio Pale di San Martino Nature Park located in San Martino di Castrozza focuses on the high altitude mountain environment, on the geology featured by the Dolomites - undoubtedly the area's greatest attraction - and on the eagle, examples of which are spotted very often among the Pale di San Martino peaks and the Lagorai range. Especially interesting are the insights on the naturalistic aspects of climate, geology, palaeontology, fauna and high altitude habitats featured by this protected area.
The visit stretches also outdoor; the small pond is inhabited by various water species living in the Park, to be watched from a standpoint tailored for underwater viewing. The temperature measurement systems allow to analyse climate's naturalistic aspects by studying rocks' temperature according to sun exposure and to the effect arboreal vegetation has on temperature. A rock garden adds to the visit of the centre.
