Giant Bench Ledro
‘"Vaia" is called the ugly beast that broke all the branches and bark."... so begins the Story of a Larch shot down on October 28, 2018 by a storm that hit all of Italy with devastating force. In Trentino there were heavy rains and rushing gusts of wind at 150-200km/h that knocked the trees to the ground like toothpicks. And it is precisely from this extraordinary and terrible event that a tourist attraction is born, the Giant Bench. Just a 20-minute walk from Besta beach, you can enjoy a unique and evocative view.
Its peculiarity? The wood used was recovered from the trees felled by Storm Vaia and the stones that serve as steps to climb them were extracted from the quarry active years ago on the site chosen to install the new structure. The bench is more than just a place to sit, it is a symbol of strength, resistance, beauty and resilience. It reminds us that even when life seems difficult and stormy, we can overcome obstacles and become even stronger. Next to the bench there is also a heart, from which you can take beautiful images, beautiful sunsets and why not fall in love... with Ledro, of course!
PS: Are you wondering where to read "the story of a larch"? When you get on the bench, try to take a look around there.
