Men's Alpine Skiing European Cup
Men's special slalom on the black slope at the "Aloch" ski stadium in the centre of Pozza, valid for the continental race circuit and the "Elke Pastore" Memorial
Throughout the winter, Val di Fassa, the flagship of skiing in Trentino and the Dolomiti Superski, hosts prestigious competitive events that attract athletes and fans from all over the world. Opening the competition calendar will be, as per tradition, the men's special slalom European Cup. On Sunday 15th December, the best athletes will compete at the Ski Stadium "Aloch" in Pozza in two heats (10.00 a.m. and 1.00 p.m.), to win the Elke Pastore Trophy, dedicated to the wife of Alceo Pastore, the historical founder of the Ski Team Fassa.
The Ski Stadium "Aloch", since 2006 official training centre of the Italian national team and of international teams such as the United States, Sweden and Germany, offers a technical track of the highest level. With a difference in altitude of 220 metres and an average gradient of 27%, the slope is a technical and demanding challenge, ideal to prepare for the next World Cup stages in Alta Badia and Madonna di Campiglio. Among the 100 slalom racers expected from 18 nations, the focus will be on the Swiss Lenz Haechler, current European Cup leader, and the Italian Tommaso Saccardi of the Centro Sportivo Carabinieri, fresh winner of the first slalom of the season in Levi.
In last year's edition, France's Steven Amiez took the top step of the podium, followed by Germany's Linus Strasser and Sweden's Fabian Ax Swartz. This year, the best emerging talents are ready to put on a show, seeking consecration and the great leap into the top circuit. An unmissable appointment in the spectacular setting of the Dolomites.
