Jemm Music Project
The 27th edition of Dolomiti Ski Jazz takes the stage at Ciampedie with a concert by the groove-rich band led by percussionist Max Castlunger: an immersive and daring musical experience that naturally crosses the boundaries between genres, providing thrills and surprises with every note
From 7 to 16 March, the "jazz track" crosses the valleys of Fassa and Fiemme with concerts on the terraces of the refuges, in clubs, theatres and squares. From Canazei to Cavalese, all the way to Cembra: the Dolomiti Ski Jazz proposes also this year as many as 25 concerts. Warm rhythms such as jazz, but also blues, funk and Latin music will create thrilling contrasts with the snow-covered scenery of the Dolomites. Artists from the international scene will perform in the evenings in the clubs and theatres of the villages, while during the day they will take to the mountains, on the terraces of the mountain huts, some of which can also be reached by non-skiers. The festival will move day after day from one slope to another, from the Belvedere ski area in Canazei to the Alpe Cermis in Cavalese.
Dolomiti Ski Jazz: Jemm Music Project. Baita Checco, Ciampedie (Vigo di Fassa). Sunday, March 16, at 12noon
Jemm Music Project, the groove-rich band led by percussionist Max Castlunger, returns to Dolomiti Ski Jazz to present its third album, "Pulse", published by the new Bolzano-based label 12Ville. This new sound journey is a fascinating dialogue between past and future, in which the deep roots of traditional African and Caribbean music merge with the rhythm of modernity. Tribal rhythms and tropical melodies intertwine in a warm, enveloping sound, enhanced by jazz harmonies and world influences.
Music band: Max Castlunger (steel pan, balafon, flutes, percussion), Matteo Cuzzolin (tenor sax), Hannes Mock (trombone), Mirko Pedrotti (vibraphone), Marco Stagni (electric bass), Andrea Polato (wooden drums).
The concert is free of charge. The event location can also be reached by non-skiers. The ticket for the ski lifts (cable car or chairlift) is charged to participants. The Val di Fassa/Carezza, Silver Valley or Dolomiti Superski ski pass is valid.
