Due pugni guantati di nero
A fascinating story of sport and peace
The voice of the sport journalist, and extraordinary narrator Federico Buffa, under the MART museum’s dome.
Federico Buffa’s voice and the piano, played by Alessandro Nidi, will tell the tale of one of the most iconic moments of the last century.
“Two black-gloved fists” is one of the most famous images of the 20th century, the one in which Tommie Smith and John Carlos stand on the 200-meter dash podium in Mexico City, on the 16th of October 1968, with their fists risen, black gloves on (symbol of black power), barefoot (symbol of poverty), their head down, and a necklace made adorned by small rocks (“each rock represents a black person who fought for black people’s rights and got lynched”).
As they stepped down from the podium, their career was over, their life made hell.
The event is carried out in cooperation with Municipality of Rovereto and the partners Generali Rovereto Rosmini, Cassa Rurale Alto Garda Rovereto, DAO and Engel & Völkers.
