Claudio & Fulvio Chiara Quintet
The 27th edition of Dolomiti Ski Jazz arrives at 4Ù - For You Bistrot in Pera di Fassa with the quintet of Claudio and Fulvio Chiara, protagonists of the Italian jazz scene. Sax and trumpet combine talent, energy and tradition
From 7 to 16 March, the "jazz track" crosses the valleys of Fassa and Fiemme with concerts on the terraces of the refuges, in clubs, theatres and squares. From Canazei to Cavalese, all the way to Cembra: the Dolomiti Ski Jazz proposes also this year as many as 25 concerts. Warm rhythms such as jazz, but also blues, funk and Latin music will create thrilling contrasts with the snow-covered scenery of the Dolomites. Artists from the international scene will perform in the evenings in the clubs and theatres of the villages, while during the day they will take to the mountains, on the terraces of the mountain huts, some of which can also be reached by non-skiers. The festival will move day after day from one slope to another, from the Belvedere ski area in Canazei to the Alpe Cermis in Cavalese.
Dolomiti Ski Jazz: Claudio & Fulvio Chiara Quintet. 4ù For You Bistrot (Pera di Fassa). Sunday, March 9, at 6:00 p.m.
Claudio Chiara
He is among the Italian musicians closest to the lesson of the great Charlie Parker, the genius of be-bop jazz. His musical language and the sound of the famous maestro come alive in the interpretations of his pieces. First alto sax in the Torino Jazz Orchestra, directed by Gianni Basso, Claudio has collaborated with jazz legends such as Lee Konitz, Ernie Wilkins, Bob Mover, Benny Bailey, Alvin Queen, William Evans and Stephan Belmondo. He also led the sax section in Tullio De Piscopo's band and in the Big Band of "Paese degli Specchi", playing alongside the likes of George Russell and Kenny Wheeler. Since 1995 he has been a member of Paolo Conte's band, with which he has performed in the most prestigious international theatres.
Fulvio Chiara
An extremely talented trumpet player, he won two important awards in 1992 at the AMJ (Association of Jazz Musicians) competition during the Grand Prix du Jazz in Aosta, including the prize for best soloist, awarded to him by Wynton Marsalis. He is co-leader of this quintet, which brings together some of the best musicians in Italian jazz.
Music band: Claudio Chiara (alto sax), Fulvio Chiara (trumpet and flugelhorn), Gianluca Tagliazucchi (piano), Aldo Zunino (double bass), Massimo Chiarella (drums).
The concert is free of charge. For You Bistrot can be reached by car or on foot from Pozza/Pera.
