From 1 January to 31 December 2024 at the Castello del Buonconsiglio in Trento, it will be possible to visit the exhibition dedicated to the "100annidimuseo" of the castle.
Also thanks to the collaboration of many provincial and city realities, on April 27, 2024, the Centenary will be celebrated with a great initiative in the museum extended to the entire Piazza della Mostra and open to all. But 2024
in its entirety will be characterized by a rich calendar of events that over the seasons will make the museum alive, participatory, accessible, aimed at all audiences with exhibitions, publications, evening openings
special events, art aperitifs, conferences, family activities, appointments for young people, theatre performances, installations in the city and much more. The intention is to shape a year full of activities and initiatives that can highlight and enhance the deep connection between the history of the Castello del Buonconsiglio and the surrounding area and in this way allow many audiences to rediscover a relational, engaging and experiential museum.
"The Castello del Buonconsiglio, the most important historical-architectural-artistic monument in our province, celebrates thisyear the one hundredth anniversary of the birth of the museum that was inaugurated in April 1924 by Giuseppe Gerola, the first Italian Superintendent and first director of the new institution. A milestone that will be remembered with an intense calendar of initiatives that will unfold throughout the year to reinvigorate the bond and relationship with citizens and to awaken a feeling of closeness. The museum must increasingly become a place of research for a collective identity, where art and culture are essential resources for individual and community well-being, also representing an engine for cultural welfare."
Francesca Gerosa | Vice-President and Councillor for Education, Culture and Sport, Family Policies, Youth and Equal Opportunities, Autonomous Province of Trento
"First of all, I would like to thank everyone for having made this great institution grow together and over time, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary, the heart of Trentino's culture, history and art. With its heritage so closely linked to the identity of the Trentino community, the museum intends to increasingly renew and multiply its connections with the city and the territory, for a full awareness of mutual closeness and belonging: to enhance old bonds and build new ones in the present, opening us to the future that awaits us."
