Musciatando
Evening stroll in Pera with open-air concerts by brass band, folk and rock-pop groups
Harmony invades the municipality of San Giovanni, precisely in Pera, where on the occasion of the "Musciatando" event, the street "Strada Jumela" will be closed to traffic to host open-air concerts of band, folk and rock-pop bands. The name of the event "Musciatando" derives from the Ladin "Musac": the good-natured nature of the inhabitants of Pera, but also the presence of the Rizzi family, who used to transport stones with donkeys, earned the residents of this hamlet the nickname "Musac", donkeys in fact.
We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday 10 July from 9.15 pm with performances by the municipal band "Musega de Poza" and the groups The Others and Funny Shoes.
- "Musega de Poza". Under the direction of maestro Giancarlo Dorich, the municipal brass band has almost seventy members, including players, standard-bearers and sutlers. The current uniform is based on Ladin tradition and the clothing worn in the past and is proof that the culture of the valley is still alive and a source of pride. The group's unforgettable concerts remain closely linked to the region: in 2003 and 2023, the musicians climbed the Vaiolet Towers with their instruments on their shoulders and then performed one step away from the sky. In 2020, they filmed a remote music video with Paolo Fresu, the famous trumpeter and flugelhorn player. It was conceived during the pandemic and filmed between Val di Fassa and Alghero.
- The Others. The group is made up of five guys - Stefano Eccher on trumpet, Giacomo Panozzo on saxophone, Mattia Vanzetta on trombone, Giulio Molteni on bass and Daniel on drums - who play Italian music reinterpreted in a pop-funk key, all for dancing and listening with friends.
- Funny Shoes. The "Funny Shoes", which emerged from the group "Flamings - Pink Floyd Tribute" in 2017, are a quintet of musicians and singers from the valley. Their repertoire consists of "pink" covers (with a few exceptions), ranging from blues/rock classics from the 60s/70s to contemporary pop. This is thanks to the two great female voices who, although very different, complement each other. Various line-up changes have helped the band to always come up with something new. In 2023, the band presents itself with a range of songs and genres that manage to unite all the current members of the group, even though they are very different, both in terms of musical tastes and previous experiences. The result is a varied and captivating show with performances of well-known songs and reinterpretations that breathe new life into lesser-known songs.
Characterised by the large boulder that fell into the valley in ancient times and from which it takes its name, Pera is home to one of the valley's first accommodation facilities: the Rizzi Hotel was in fact, in addition to being a horse changing station and salt store, the lodging of several mountaineering pioneers and illustrious 19th century personalities, including the Belgian royal family and Enrico Fermi. Also worth visiting is the upper part of the village, where several rustic cottages with balconies, balconies and barns can be found.
