Great Carnival of the Giudicarie returns to Tione di Trento, with a packed calendar of events and shows for a week of fun and goliardia. It boasts a 136-year-long history and the first records of this celebration date back to 1887, when parties were prepared in the square and bigoi were distributed free of charge to the townspeople.
The events that will take place during these days are always characterised by elements of novelty, but at the same time they follow in the footsteps of the town's tradition.
THE APPOINTMENTSTo date, there are numerous events involving the township during this week of festivities: the collection, by the Carnival Queen, of the keys to the town; the visit of the valets to the local kindergartens, the Giudicarie music school and the Tione senior citizens' club; the great parade of floats and masked groups along the main avenue.
The Carnival Queen will keep the keys until Shrove Tuesday, the closing day of the event.
