The music festival in the most beautiful mountains of the world

‘I Suoni delle Dolomiti’ is a music festival in nature in the Dolomites of Trentino, amidst rocks and pastures, spires and mountain lakes. This festival respectfully combines artistic and natural aspects, with the intention of raising awareness among a wider audience.

The festival lasts for a month, from the end of August to the end of September, and welcomes under the same banner concerts that embrace different musical genres, from jazz to classical music, passing through world music, welcoming a few singer-songwriters and without neglecting some forays into pop. Thanks to some special projects, we have brought readings, theatre and even opera to high altitudes.

Free concerts

The real price of attending the festival concerts is the desire to be there, getting up early in the morning, facing the mountains and nature with a respectful attitude. To reach the ‘concert halls’, one must walk and earn one's way to the concert with one's own legs! Or by using the lift connections or shuttles, where available, which are the responsibility of each participant.

In fact, the festival was born as a project to promote the mountains and the Trentino region and has always aimed to raise people's awareness of this delicate habitat, through the marriage with music. One of the special features of the festival is precisely the fact that the events on the programme are free of charge, with the exception of a few cases, such as some indoor concerts and special Trekking projects.

Really special dates

Most concerts are held at 12 noon sharp. A special event, however, takes place at 6.30 a.m. and is called L' Alba delle Dolomiti (Dawn of the Dolomites) because the music starts just as the sun peeps out of the mountains!

The festival also includes Trekking, a special three-day project in which musicians and participants, accompanied by Trentino Alpine Guides, share the daily routine of walking, life in the mountain huts and intimate, exclusive concerts. This project is reserved for a limited number of participants and involves the payment of a participation fee. The concerts do not have a set time, but this is left somewhat to the inspiration of the location, the goodness of the weather and the rhythm of the group that is created around the experience.

An accessible festival

Some dates of the ‘I Suoni delle Dolomiti’ programme are also organised to accommodate audiences with motor and sensory disabilities. People with hearing disabilities will also be able to participate in these concerts thanks to the use of Subpacs, innovative audio-tactile instruments that can be worn like backpacks and that vibrate to the rhythm of the music, allowing sound perception.
