Lakeside holidays in Valsugana

What to do at Lake Caldonazzo and Lake Levico as the warm weather approaches

A mixture of sport, entertainment and culture, naturally woven works of art which you can admire in the open-air museum of Arte Sella. In spring, Valsugana throws off its white mantle and takes on the hues of green and light blue.

Cerulean like the waters of Lakes Caldonazzo and Levico, where you can enjoy a variety of water sports or travel their shores on foot or by bicycle, exploring the Valsugana cycle path. Green like the grass, the perfect location for a picnic or just an afternoon of sunbathing.

Here, you can find our top suggestions for a lakeside holiday.

#1

Sports on the water

Sailing, windsurfing, kayaking and SUP: choose whichever sport you like on Lakes Caldonazzo and Levico, both awarded the Blue Flag. Climb aboard a sail boat and enjoy the gentle waves and breeze as they accompany you on your voyage. Lake Caldonazzo boasts a strong sailing tradition.

#2

The cycle path

Long, straight paths with no rough terrain: the hallmark of the Valsugana Cycle Path, the long route that runs along part of Lake Caldonazzo and the Brenta river, as well as passing a number of Bicigrill rest stops. This 80 km track for bikes and pedestrians is a true paradise for cycling enthusiasts.

#3

Arte Sella

An open-air museum, a creative process, a showcase of constantly evolving interactions between humans and the environment: this is Arte Sella. In this centuries-old forest, art and nature come together as the changing seasons dictate the colours of the spectacular natural display. You can also find the art of Arte Sella in the centre of Borgo Valsugana with 3 Sky Museum installations.

#4

At the Thermal Bath

Relieve stress and recharge your batteries on the shores of Lake Levico. The Terme di Levico thermal baths combine the relaxing properties of thermal water baths - unique in Italy - with a variety of outdoor activities, such as yoga by the lake, meditative walks in the centuries-old park and zero-gravity floating.

#5

The hamlets of Valsugana

Valsugana boasts two villages included on the list of The Most Beautiful Villages in Italy. These are Borgo Valsugana, traversed by the Brenta river, and Pieve Tesino, famous as the birthplace of Alcide De Gasperi, one of Italy’s most prominent 20th-century politicians. A great opportunity to spend a relaxing day sightseeing and enjoying bygone times.
