It revolves around your own well-being with the art of Aufguss
A selection of saunas where you can warm up your winter with some vapour
Aufguss is a German word, pronounced more or less like it’s spelt, meaning “infusion”. However, in a sauna context the word takes on a rather different meaning, made up of harmonious gestures with which the sauna-meister, using deft flicks and waves of a towel or fan, circulates the hot air and vapour over those seated. These ritual and ancient gestures help to distend and relax muscle fibres, maybe contracted by the cold or sporting activities, and therefore intensify the benefits of the whole sauna experience.
Furthermore, to raise humidity levels, snow or ice blended with balsam scents and essential oils is left to melt on the hot coals: this is how this ritual has held on to the original sense of the word “infusion” and also marks the starting point for this silent, stimulating ceremony.
If you too feel the need to treat yourself to a unique and healthy break, to relax both mind and body, all you have to do is choose which Aufguss sauna to visit among those we’ve selected.
