TRENTINO AUTUMN FOOD AND WINE FESTIVALS
Autumn commences with mountain cheese tastings, followed by a celebration of mountain bubbles at the Trentodoc Festival. Finally, guests enjoy the area’s most typical colours and flavours at the Autumnus festival.
ALPINE CHEESES
There is no shortage of events celebrating Trentino cheeses; September is the month of the signature cheese from Val di Sole, Casolèt, to which the CheesFestiValdiSole is dedicated, until 25 September, with events and appointments devoted to the culture of mountain pastures and its gastronomic tradition. There are plenty of guided tours where travellers can explore the mountain huts and dairies, agricultural fairs and festivals, Latte in Festa in Val di Rabbi, tastings and themed menus offered by the valley’s restaurants.
In Val di Fassa, the Puzzone di Moena cheese is celebrated, with a festival scheduled in Moena from 20 to 22 September. Three days full of experiences for true cheese lovers or simple gourmets dedicated to the King of Trentino cheeses. There are lots of new features for this Festival that winds through the Dolomite villages of Moena, Soraga and Predazzo.
TRENTODOC FESTIVAL (20 – 22 September)
The Trentodoc Festival will promote the production areas of Trentino and highlight the historical and cultural heritage as well as the artistic jewels of the capital city. Three days of celebration to taste, discover and share Trentodoc bubbles, exploring the characteristics that make them special. Trentodoc is produced exclusively from Trentino grapes using the Champenois method. The labels proposed by the 67 sparkling wine producers associated with the Trento Doc Institute are renowned for their elegance and balance between freshness and structure. The event will excite and inform trade professionals and enthusiasts for the entire weekend. It will be a sensory journey through guided tastings, show cooking, debates, parties and moments of socializing. But the heart of the Trentodoc Festival will be the sparkling wine houses, which will organise events in unique locations, wine trekking, and food and wine experiences to help guests understand where and how Trentodoc was born. There will be no shortage of masterclass tastings, yoga classes in the vineyard, live music and educational meetings.
The city of Trento with its courtyards, parks and historic buildings, will be the perfect stage for this celebration of the senses. The provincial winery of Palazzo Roccabruna will welcome guests to tell the story of Trentodoc, alongside the itineraries of the Wine and Flavours Roads. Furthermore, bars and wine bars, restaurants, hotels, agriturismo and wine shops will liven up the long weekend by offering events, tastings and menus paired with Trentodoc. For 2024, over 40 events are planned in the city with 97 being hosted in the various wineries of Trentino. The festival programme has been curated by Luciano Ferraro, deputy director of Corriere della Sera and artistic director of Trentodoc Festival.

“POMARIA” the apple festival (12-13 October)
October is apple harvest time in the Val di Non and Val di Sole, when nature offers its most beautiful, fragrant and tasty fruits. To pay homage to nature's generosity the Strada della Mela e dei Sapori delle Valli di Non e di Sole has been organising "Pomaria", the Val di Non harvest festival, for 20 years.
Every year a new edition of the extraordinary event comes to life to celebrate the apple in its many aspects, but also, the traditions and other local flavours, which are rediscovered and enhanced.
It is a festival immersed in the warm colours of autumn where visitors can learn about the entire Val di Non, its art and its history. Throughout the month of October the Magnamour Autumn Food festival takes centre stage. Several restaurants in Val di Non will prepare menus with apples and mountain cheeses paired with wines from Val di Non cellars, Grappas and distilleries.
DOLO-VINI-MITI, the “Vertical” Wine Festival (11-20 October)
The beauty of the Dolomites of Val di Fiemme and the terraced vineyards of Valle di Cembra, with their 700 kilometres of dry-stone walls will backdrop the Dolo-Vini-Miti, the vertical wine festival, this year. Ten days of events and appointments, from Friday 11 to Sunday 20 October, to better discover these two territories, their history and characteristics, but, above all, their most important productions. The wines of the Cembra Valley are defined as "vertical" because of the steep terrain where they are grown. The prohibitive slopes of the valley reach up to 40% of altitude gain.
Masterclasses, gourmet trekking, aperitifs with a view, conferences, themed shows and a folkloristic itinerant dinner among the vaulted cellars (“caneve”) are just a few of the exciting events that make up this splendid festival’s programme. Over the course of this 10-day festival, 20 exciting events will wind through Val di Cembra and Val di Fiemme.
AUTUMNUS FESTIVAL IN TRENTO (10 - 20 October)
Autumnus – “The Fruits of the Earth City of Trento" puts the emphasis on the excellence of the area's products and how to present, tell and enhance them. The fourth edition of "Autumnus" will take place from Thursday, October 10 to Sunday, October 2024: 11 days of in-depth lectures, workshops, tastings, show cooking, starred dinners and science cafes for a total of more than 200 events.
More than 100 varieties of Trentino's food and wine industry and food chain will be ideal companions for a journey of flavours and fragrances through the streets, palaces and squares of Trento's historic centre. The first novelty of this fourth edition is the collaboration with the Fesitval dello Sport thanks to which the Autumnus Market will open its doors on Thursday, October 10, 2024, coinciding with the start of the Festival. The days will consist of tastings, workshops, and show cooking using quality Trentino products. From the Castello del Buonconsiglio, passing through Piazza Mostra, Piazza Cesare Battisti, Palazzo Pretorio, Torre Civica to Piazza del Duomo: these evocative places will host many events that surprise even the most demanding palates. www.autumnus.trento.it/

Guided tours and sensory experiences are available at seven local mills. Part of a series of gastronomic festivals around Lake Garda.
In Arco there will be a new olive path, a 3-hour route that starts from the centre of the town passing through the olive groves all around. It will be an experiential path, with various touchpoints in three languages about the history of olive growing in this area.
