How it works this year
The 'I Suoni delle Dolomiti' festival has its boots on again ready for summer 2021. We’re all set to strike out for the stages in the mountains, up on the green carpet where the crags meet the sky. The verdant open spaces of the Dolomites make an ideal setting for a safe event – and with a few extra precautions, it will be even more enjoyable. The concerts are still free of charge, but this year there are new ways to attend. Here is all the information you need.
New dates!
This year, the 'I Suoni delle Dolomiti' comes later in the calendar. The events run from 23 August to 24 September, from summer sun to autumn colour. The programme is set to be as varied and spectacular as ever, with a host of special guests to look forward to.
We made this change to encourage visitors to discover our mountains outside the peak season, when the paths and pastures are already rather busy. It’s a decision that reflects the festival’s green spirit and the sustainability message we always look to promote.
This sensitivity to eco issues affecting the mountains (and indeed the planet as a whole) is a big part of our special launch event for the highly anticipated 2021 festival season. The curtain-raiser is on 15 July at 12 noon up on Lavazè plateau in the Val di Fiemme.
This area is a testament to the huge efforts made to restore the increasingly fragile balance between humans and nature after the damage wreaked by Storm Vaia in 2018. Recovery work began at dawn the next day. People joined forces, supported by projects like the Trentino Tree Agreement and inspired by their knowledge and experience of the symbiotic bond between people and the environment. This vital rapport is as old as the hills, and it remains a distinctive feature of the Alps.
