Pozza - Val San Nicolò

Mountain bike tour to wonderful Val San Nicolò, once land of pastures, as witnessed by the barns and the cabins belonging to the families of Pozza.

Starting from "Piaza de Comun" square, along "Strada de Meida" that becomes, then, "Strada Ruf de Ruacia", reach the bridge ("Pont de Garneté") that crosses "Ruf de Sèn Nicolò" stream, nearby Soldanella restaurant. Shortly before, take the dirt road on your right up the orographic left of the stream, characterised by a gradient that’s rather gentle in the beginning and then gradually steeper, facing a short series of hairpin bends. Later the path becomes flatter again, until connecting again with Val San Nicolò’s road, just below Malga al Crocifisso hut. At Crocifisso chapel, keep left and continue pedalling on the paved track, alternating flat stretches with long climbs, until exiting the woods nearby "Saùch" area. Descend on your right in the big open space and take the dirt road "dei Rusci" up the orographic left of the stream, in the woods. The pace varies and alternates flat stretches with never challenging climbs. Ignore the junction to path 641, keep right and reach Baita alle Cascate hut. For the return, from Baita Ciampìe hut follow the dirt road that later becomes paved. A long descent towards Pozza awaits you.

The route is heavily used by hikers and families with children. Beware of the shuttle buses and the trackless train that go back and forth between Pozza and Baita Ciampiè hut.
