Lessinia Ring - medium (Alpine Pasture Tour)
A pleasant hike along forest roads and alpine pastures on the Lessinia meadows
The route takes you through some of the typical habitats of the plateau: from coppice to coniferous forest and pastureland, encountering some of the numerous 'malghe' (shepherd's huts) that dot the landscape in the meadows of the plateau. On the route, which is mainly made up of dirt roads and forestry tracks, there are several detours that extend the tour and touch on other malghe in the area.
Starting from Sega di Ala, precisely from the Albergo Alpino, we set out for Malga Maia. On the way we find one of the last nuclei of secular beeches of Lessinia, the oldest inhabitants of the plateau. The itinerary continues through pastures and along a ridge we arrive at Malga Lavacchione. From there, the path continues through a thick fir forest and comes out near Malga Revoltel.Just before arriving at the malga, you can opt to lengthen the route and continue along the forest road towards Malga Coe di Ala and then climb up to Cima Castelberto (1,765m) where the view sweeps from the Adamello to the Brenta Dolomites in the distance and Monte Baldo with the Carega group closer. If you choose instead to follow the route proposed here, you head for a fork in the path to the right towards Malga Campo Retratto, and then continue towards Malga Lavacchietto and return to the starting point through Malga Maia, passing by the Dos del Canon.
