Museo Mulino della “Meneghina”
A symbol of popular religiosity and a historical testimony of a mysterious event that arouses interest throughout Europe. Don't miss the opportunity to visit this mystical place.
The charm of popular religiosity with its corollary of mysticism and traditions revives in this isolated and evocative place in Capriana. Between 1815 and 1848, Maria Domenica Lazzeri, known as the "Blessed Meneghina", lived within these walls. The narrative wants her to be a witness to an apparition of the Madonna in 1833. The chronicles describe the torment suffered until her death: she was infected by a mysterious disease from China and spent the next 14 years of her life in bed, ill. Visiting the mill you can discover an interesting collection of relics of popular devotion, signs of a mysterious story that for decades has attracted the attention of scholars, bishops and nobles from all over Europe.
