Casa natale Santa Paolina
The site, very well preserved and restored, consists of four rooms. The house, a pilgrimage destination also from Brazil, can be visited at the request of the nuns.
The birthplace of Saint Pauline - cared for by the Little Sisters of the Immaculate Conception, the order founded by the saint in Brazil - is located near the historic centre of Vigolo Vattaro. To access the rooms you have to go down into the basement of the house. The well-preserved and restored site consists of four rooms, where the saint lived with her parents and siblings before migrating to Brazil with her family. In those distant lands, young Paolina with some friends took care of the needy and freed slaves, establishing a nursery, a novitiate and a spinning mill to give work to the women of the country. Saint Pauline was proclaimed blessed on 18 October 1991 by Pope John Paul II in Florianopolis, capital of the state of Santa Catarina, and on 19 May 2002 sanctified in Rome. The house can be seen on request.
