The Sounds of the Dolomites | Potenziali evocati multimediali
Potenziali Evocati Multimediali: from Liguria to Apulia, from Greece to Iceland: a babel of music and languages.
Gabriele Vacis runs an Acting School at the Teatro Stabile in Turin. When students from one of the classes were looking for a name for a group, they found inspiration in the neurological sciences. They chose the name PEM – Potenziali Evocati Multimediali (Potential Multimedia Evocations) and since December 2021 their open, accessible and inclusive theatre has been promoting participation and sustaining the community and society to which it belongs. As well as exceptional acting skills, the young members of PEM boast outstanding musical talents: following successful productions of Prometheus and Seven Against Thebes by Aeschylus that were directed by Vacis, they’re coming to the Dolomites with a show that’s more like a concert than a play. It features songs in a range of languages and from various countries and folk traditions, from Liguria and Puglia to Greece and Iceland. In Tresca – which lies at 2,200 m above sea level in the Cornacci Group in Val di Fiemme and faces the Latemar Group and Monte Agnello, a geologic relict of an ancient volcano – their sounds will take the audience on a journey through space and time. In a Babel of languages and dialects, sound will take precedence over meaning in the tale told.
Location
Val di Fiemme, Cornacci Group - Monte Agnello, Buse de Tresca. Walking on the trails that from Alpe di Pampeago or Passo Feudo climb to Buse de Tresca, at the foot of Dos Capèl, is like leafing through a book on the amazing geological history of the Dolomites. What could be more exciting than treading right on the crater’s mouth of what 230 million years ago had become the largest volcano in Europe, so huge that it later collapsed under its own weight? All this, and being able to admire in front of you the Pale di San Martino and the most southern part of the Latemar group.
How to get there
From Pampeago by the Agnello chairlift, then on foot along trail 509; 20 minutes walking time; altitude change: 100 metres; difficulty level: E.
