The Sounds of the Dolomites | Bandakadabra
Bandakadabra: a “pocket orchestra” on the go, through jazz, Balkan echoes and hypnotic rhythms. Concert for the Sounds of the Dolomites.
When he called them an “urban band”, founder of the Slow Food movement Carlo Petrini underlined not only the ideal environment for their performances but also the place where they get their inspiration. This group of wind instrument players and percussionists – who might also be described as a “pocket orchestra” – can actually adapt to any location. Displaying irresistible comical and theatrical verve, they always draw on a wide range of forms of musical expression. This will also be the case at 2,200 metres above sea level in Tresca, in Val di Fiemme, within sight of the Latemar Group and Monte Agnello, a geologic relict of the Predazzo Jurassic volcano. Formed in Turin, Bandakadabra’s busy live schedule has seen the band playing all over Europe and attracting more and more attention from many different audiences. From the Paleo Festival and I Suoni delle Dolomiti to the Premio Tenco, the Festival della Mente and Musicultura, in just a few years Bandakadabra have put on more than 400 performances. They have also collaborated with renowned artists such as Vinicio Capossela, Goran Bregovic, Malika Ayane, Willie Peyote and Samuel from Subsonica.
