New appointment with the Teatro Capovolto, the summer programme of the Teatro Sociale curated by the Centro Servizi Culturali S. Chiara di Trento, which on Wednesday 24 July will bring to the stage of Piazza Cesare Battisti Tre on the swing by Luigi Lunari, directed by Alberto Giusta. A show that talks about life and death, destiny, predestination and free will, the existence of God and atheism, with Emanuele Cerra, Denis Fontanari, Christian Renzicchi and Marta Marchi.
Three men, a commendatore, an army captain and a professor are in the same place for three different reasons: the commendatore for a gallant meeting, the captain to deal with a purchase of war material, the professor to pick up a package.
But what exactly is that place? A discreet and comfortable hotel, a place of business, or a publishing house? Is it possible that all three had the wrong address? The strange situation increases the mystery, also because the alarm for an anti-pollution exercise prevents the three men from leaving. During the night they are forced to spend together, the three come to suspect that the room may really be an antechamber to the afterlife and that they are probably already dead, and waiting for the Judgment. The three react to this perspective according to their respective psychological characteristics: the commander is frightened and anxious, the captain finds nothing mysterious in the situation and remains absolutely indifferent, the professor uses all his philosophical logic to explain the phenomenon as a natural and logical fact.
The result is a humorous dialogue centred on the important themes of life and death, destiny, predestination and free will, the existence of God and atheism. Suddenly a cleaning woman enters the room and says things so ambiguous that a new great enigma arises in the three unfortunates: is she really a cleaning worker? A long siren sound indicates that the pollution emergency alarm is over. The three of them are ready to go, but the final scene will give a surprising coup de théâtre.
