Puzzone DOP Festival in Moena

A weekend to be tasted for cheeselovers and even for foodies of all ages. The "Puzzone di Moena DOP Festival" dedicated to the King of Trentino cheeses, one of the DOPs of the "LoST" European project that aims to protect and enhance small local dairy productions, returns from the 20th to the 22nd of September. In addition to Moena, the birthplace of "Spretz Tzaorì" (as "Puzzone" was originally called by the people of Moena), it also involves the villages of Soraga and Predazzo. Three days of festival that include: excursions to discover the production sites; visits to the farmers' stables during milking time; tastings; master classes; starred cooking shows; themed aperitifs, lunches, snacks and dinners; cheese-making demonstrations; and children's workshops. The most anticipated moments are the "Desmontegade", scheduled for Saturday, the 20th of September, in Soraga, and for Sunday 22nd in Moena, when cows, sheep, and goats, adorned with flowers, come back from the mountain pasture with shepherds and breeders, parading along the village streets accompanied by music bands, folk groups, and local associations.

Programme Puzzone Festival 2024 - Friday 20 September:

• from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Moena at the square "Piaz de Ramon" - "Casèl Village". Space entirely dedicated to the King of Trentino cheeses, the star of the festival, with tastings and traditional dishes, games and workshops for children. Organised by the Predazzo and Moena cheese factory
• 3 p.m. at Alpe Lusia - Val di Fassa Cooking Class. Chef Elena Vian leads a tasty lesson on the panoramic terrace of Chalet Valbona. The protagonist of the recipe is Puzzone di Moena DOP together with other local products. Book the experience now!
• from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Moena at the square "Piaz de Ramon" - Happycheese Puzzone Edition. Gourmet aperitif with mt0 ingredients and traditional dishes reinterpreted by the creative flair of chef Stefano Croce from the Michelin green starred El Mas agriturismo/farmhouse
• from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Moena at the square "Piaz de Ramon" - Km0 producers' market. • all day in Moena at the square "Piaz de Ramon" - "Casèl Village". Space entirely dedicated to the King of Trentino cheeses, the star of the festival, with tastings and traditional dishes, games and workshops for children. Organised by the Predazzo and Moena cheese factory
• from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. - "Trekking of Puzzone di Moena DOP". A whole day, guided by an expert local guide, to discover Puzzone di Moena DOP, through 3 tasty stages, from Moena to Soraga. 1. "wow" breakfast at the El Mas agriturismo/farmhouse; 2. cheese aperitif in Soraga together with the "Mèlga de Fascia" dairy with cheeses, wines and apples from Trentino; 3. picnic in "Pianac" with the delicacies of the "Carpano" gastronomy. € 50 adults, € 35 children up to 12 years old. • from 10.30 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Soraga - "La Desmonteada" (cow parade). Cows and horses, accompanied by local farmers, set off at dawn from San Pellegrino Pass to arrive in the village. While waiting for the parade along the main street (12.30 p.m.), market of typical products and handicrafts, farmer's aperitif, cheese-making with the "Mèlga de Fascia" dairy cheesemaker, typical lunch (from 12 p.m.), musical entertainment and performance by folk groups
• 4 p.m. in Moena at the square "Piaz de Ramon" - Puzzone di Moena DOP Cooking Show. Two well-known influencers will try their hand at cooking under the watchful eye of two starred chefs from Val di Fassa, Paolo Donei and Stefano Croce, to taste Puzzone di Moena DOP at its best
