Men's Alpine Skiing European Cup
Men's special slalom on the black slope at the "Aloch" ski stadium in the centre of Pozza, valid for the continental race circuit and the "Elke Pastore" Memorial
Throughout the winter, Val di Fassa, the flagship of skiing in Trentino and the Dolomiti Superski, hosts important competitive events. Opening the busy calendar of races is the traditional men's special slalom European Cup in two heats (10 a.m. and 1 p.m.). The spotlights will be on and the starting gates will be open on Sunday 15 December at the "Aloch" ski stadium in Pozza which, since 2006, has been the training centre for the Italian national team, but also for other teams such as the United States, Sweden, Finland, Slovenia, Slovakia and Germany. Due to the technical characteristics of the course (the difference in altitude is 220 metres, while the average gradient is around 27%), the race in Pozza is a test between the narrow poles used by many as high-level training for the World Cup stages in Alta Badia and Madonna di Campiglio. Also competing for the top step of the podium will be the best up-and-coming young athletes, ambitious to reach the top of the rankings of the highest continental circuit.
In last year's edition, victory went to Frenchman Steven Amiez with an overall time of 1'49''62, second to German Linus Strasser and third to Swede Fabian Ax Swartz. In fifth place was Italy's Tommaso Sala.
