SellaRonda Skimarathon
Night ski mountaineering race in pairs around the Sella massif, over the passes and through the villages of the four Ladin valleys, passing through Canazei
The Sellaronda Skimarathon, the world's most beautiful ski mountaineering competition by night, is an unmissable appointment. It winds its way along the Dolomiti Superski ski carousel and connects the Ladin valleys (Val Gardena-Selva di Val Gardena, Val Badia-Corvara, Val di Fassa-Canazei and Livinallongo-Arabba) over the four Dolomite passes (Pordoi, Sella, Gardena and Campolongo). Now in its 30th edition, in this demanding competition, competitors in pairs, equipped with sealskins and headlamps to illuminate the course, tackle the 42 km course with determination and technical skill, with a total altitude difference of 2,700 metres. Compared to previous years, more and more mixed teams registered, consisting of men and women. The men's and women's records to be broken are 02:52'59'', set by Davide Magnini and Matteo Eydallin, and 03:29'36'' by the couple formed by Alba De Silvestro and Elena Nicolini. The numbers of the last edition speak of 535 teams registered, with a total of 1070 athletes and some fifteen nations represented.
As per the regulations, every year the start and finish are hosted in rotation in one of the four Ladin valleys. For 2024, after six years, the honour falls to Canazei with the square packed on Friday, 22 March, to celebrate all participants. The Sella and Pordoi passes will be affected by the passages between 6.30 p.m. and 8 p.m. The Sellaronda Skimarathon is also a round of the Dolomites Cup. Registration has been open since January.
