Val di Non: inclusive options for every season
A Trentino experience for everyone
No matter what time of year you choose to visit Val di Non, you will always find a good reason to fall in love with it. The warm and intense colours of autumn on Lake Tovel, the apple trees that blossom in spring and seem to anticipate the crunchy taste of the fruit, the warm atmosphere of Christmas with its markets and snowshoe hikes, summer excursions among castles and paths surrounded by greenery: every place is a discovery and there are many accessible experiences suitable for those with special needs.
Val di Non is a land of castles
You just have to run your eyes over the hills, apple orchards and forests to catch a glimpse of them. Some are still inhabited by their owners but others can be visited, including three that are accessible to people with disabilities. Here, blind and visually impaired people can book guided tours during which rooms are narrated to recreate the atmosphere and stories of the castle. You can have this experience:
-
at Valer Castle
-
at Nanno Castle
The gardens of Nanno Castle can also be reached by wheelchair users or those with mobility difficulties. Tastings of local products accompanied by stories about the castle and its history are organised here. Here you can find information on picnics and contact details for reservations.
For those who enjoy a relaxed life in the open air, Non Valley is ideal for gentle walks, perhaps along the edge of woods or the shore of a lake.
Some trails and paths are also adapted for those with mobility, physical or sensory impairments. They are flat and partially or totally barrier-free.
The Merlonga Walk, for example, is a comfortable path with no climbs, overlooking the two small lakes of Coredo and Tavon and the Sanctuary of San Romedio. Or you can try the Pradiei Walk, a simple and relaxing walk through the meadows of Upper Non Valley.
Non Valley is also a land of lakes. The most famous is Lake Tovel but there are many others that you can discover during your holiday, which vary greatly: small alpine lakes or large bodies of water, each has its own identity and is suitable to different experiences.
Lake Tovel, for example, is also accessible to people with motor disabilities. Along its shores there is a wheelchair-friendly rammed-earth promenade with no climbs, partially barrier-free, from which you can reach the restaurants that line the lake. Here you can find information on the route’s accessibility.
You can have many experiences on the lake: choose the ones that best reflect your idea of a holiday.

Finally, starting next year, you can experience an exciting kayaking adventure. Thanks to the collaboration with the GSH cooperative you will be able to explore the gorges of Lake Santa Giustina: this excursion between rocks and water is finally accessible thanks to canoes designed for disabled people and the presence of specialised guides.
