Garda Trentino: options for an accessible holiday
A Trentino experience for everyone
In Garda Trentino, sport has no barriers. If you like the idea of discovering an area by cycling, if you love water sports or if you are looking for the adrenaline rush of climbing, you can find many opportunities here that are also accessible to people with disabilities.
For example, there are numerous cycle paths that you can follow past olive groves and vineyards, villages and lakes that reflect the blue of the sky and the green of the forests.

From the large Lake Garda to Lake Ledro, from Lake Cavedine to Lake Tenno, from Lake Lamar to Lake Toblino, to the River Sarca and the many streams running through the area: every corner of blue is a possible starting point for a water adventure.
If you would like to try the experience of sailing, the Archè Cooperative boat, equipped to accommodate people with sensory or cognitive disabilities and motor difficulties, awaits you at the port of S. Nicolò. With them, you will find all the assistance you need to experience the excitement of the lake.

Kitesurfing is also becoming accessible thanks to the efforts of local organisations.
The Alto Garda Kite Club offers specialised equipment and instructors that make the kiteboarding experience also suitable for people with motor disabilities. If you want, you can sail the waters of the lake, feeling the wind on your skin and braving the waves in an independent and safe manner.
You can find all the information and useful contacts on the Alto Garda Kite website
If you still haven’t chosen which water sport you would like to try, browse the Garda Trentino brochure for inspiration.
Sporting experiences include climbing and, in particular, the Placche di Baone crag, unfortunately closed since 2022 due to a landslide. This is the world’s first barrier-free crag: thanks to the tactile maps placed along the different routes, it can also be climbed by blind and visually impaired people.
Although this experience is not available at the moment, you can ask for information on when it reopens.
Another way to discover Garda Trentino is to visit its museums, installations and villages with an ancient soul.
Bosco Arte Stenico, for example, is a special place that combines culture and landscape. This museum was established and developed in the midst of nature. The route intertwines art with wood, the forest and the mountain. There are no architectural barriers: wheelchair users can follow the trail independently and blind and visually impaired people can explore the installations accompanied by a guide.
The MAG - Museo Alto Garda is designed to be accessible. Located in the Riva del Garda Castle, it overlooks the lake and offers a permanent collection and several temporary exhibitions.
Many of the villages you will encounter during your trip, such as Rango and Canale, are also accessible: the local community works tirelessly to reduce architectural barriers and open the villages to all who wish to experience them.
If you would like to take part in local events , you can choose from several inclusive opportunities.
The Bike Festival is an event that brings together in Riva del Garda passionate bikers of varying levels of experience and is also accessible to the disabled. Thanks to strategically placed parking spaces, connecting bridges and lanes suitable for special bicycles, the event is accessible to all.
Every year, the Arco Rock Master, the world’s oldest climbing competition, also hosts paraclimbing competitions. This year it will take place on 27 and 28 September: find all the information here.
Garda Trentino is a land of discoveries, experiences, adventures and stories. And it is open to all. Organise your holiday: here you can find barrier-free accommodation, information on mobility, suggestions for experiences and contact details of organisations that will support you during your trip.
