Don’t just stand there and gawp. To understand the mountains you’ve got to get up close to them, and really interact with the landscape.

Climbing is the most obvious way to do this. But how about paragliding, rafting, or even fishing instead? In Trentino, we offer them all; as well as a network of experienced guides and instructors who can show you the way and polish your technique. However you like your adrenaline served – at the end of a rope, perhaps, or plunging down a grade V rapid – we can take care of you.

Climbing and Bouldering

One glance at Trentino, and you’ll know it’s a climber’s paradise. Our towering Dolomite cliffs are home to some of the longest and most exciting multi-pitch routes in the world. Meanwhile, for first-timers and rock gymnasts, you’ll find our lower crags are peppered with safe, bolted, sport-climbing routes. There’s a busy social scene here too: especially during the famous Rock Master Festival in Arco.

Rafting

Wet and wild, and perfect for a warm summer’s day, rafting will give you a river experience unlike any other. At its most extreme, it’s a real test of nerve and teamwork: but our rivers are home to many less demanding rapids, too. Two in particular are worth targeting – the Avisio, which is fed by the Marmolada glacier, and the Noce, rated by National Geographic as Europe’s best rafting river.

Paragliding

Trentino has long been a paragliding hub, thanks to its stunning scenery and favourable winds -and when it comes to reaching the launch sites, our lifts are pretty useful too. Canazei in the Val di Fassa, and Molveno, beneath the Brenta Dolomites, are popular venues, but there are many more. You’ll also find plenty of paragliding schools ready to take you on your first thrilling tandem flight.

Fly Fishing

No-one can read water quite like a fisherman can: and whether you’re a beginner or an expert, you’ll find our mountain rivers fascinating. Brown trout are the most abundant species, and thanks to the tourist permit system, getting permission to fish from the local Associazioni Pescatori Dilettanti is straightforward. The assciations can also hook you up with local guides for both tuition and advice.
