Christmas markets in the villages and castles

Small unexpected treasures

Not all Christmas markets are alike. Some are small gems, found sometimes in unexpected places, where festive cheer and traditional flavours meet fairy tale sceneries and curious atmospheres.

These are Trentino’s Christmas markets, unusual and captivating, coming alive in ancient castles, mediaeval towns and historic houses. Unique places full of character where you can experience the authentic Christmas spirit.

How to get to the Christmas Markets in Trentino?

You can travel by car or by public transport: find out how to get to Trentino. If you book in one of Trentino's accommodation facilities, you can receive the Trentino Guest Card, which gives you unlimited access to the Trentino Trasporti urban public transport network (in Trento, Rovereto, Alto Garda and Pergine) and extra-urban and on regional trains - Brennero, Valsugana and Trento-Malè lines - on provincial routes.

In addition, the Trentino Guest Card includes discount codes to reach Trentino with MarinoBus and Autostradale.

Canale di Tenno

A cluster of stone houses nestled in the mountains, wrought iron lanterns and narrow cobbled lanes: the village with its back-in-time atmosphere is simply mesmerising. Discover Tenno’s Christmas Markets along old lanes and underneath the balconies filled with intimate festive spirit.

Rango

Rango, ‘One of the most beautiful villages in Italy’, opens its Vòlti at Christmas: old farmhouses, beautifully converted stables and marvellous vaulted cellars play host to picturesque Christmas markets, worth visiting throughout December.

Castello di Avio

Sounds, aromas and colours will transport you in a fairy tale world. The music of bagpipers will accompany you on a tour through art and culture with tastings of traditional Christmas baking treats, local wines and displays of the finest handicrafts.

Castello di Ossana

Within the grounds of San Michele Castle, immersed in a display of 1000 nativity scenes, Ossana’s Christmas Markets come alive in December. Take a wander around the charming wooden stalls beautifully enclosed by the castle’s walls.

Siror

The Siror Christmas market is the oldest Christmas market in Trentino. The barns and stables in the centre turn into shops full of decorations and sweets, such as zelten and brazadel, specialities of Siror. You can also admire little wooden masterpieces created by sculptors from all over Italy for the “Arte Natale” Sculpture Symposium.

Vigo di Fassa

At Vigo di Fassa the Christmas market is “pìcol, bon e bel”, which for us Fassans means “little, good and beautiful”. This is not hard to believe, given that Vigo di Fassa is one of the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy, with views over the Fassa Dolomites.
