Vermiglio, Maura Delpero's film
Vermiglio
"In four seasons, nature completes its cycle. In four seasons you can die and be born again."
Vermiglio is about the last year of the World War II, in a large family living in a small house in the middle of a snowy nowhere, in the Trentino hamlet of Vermiglio. It tells how, by a paradox of fate, the arrival of a refugee soldier causes it to lose its peace, just when the rest of the world finds it back.
Maura Delpero's film, winner of the Silver Lion at the Venice Film Festival and selected to represent Italy at the Oscars 2025, was shot in Trentino, in the municipality of Vermiglio and the hamlets of Carciato and Comasine.
Vermiglio is a story about people, and also about places. The snow-capped mountains, mountain streams and the boundless fir forests of Val di Sole.
