"Terre Verdi"
A hike through the beech tree forest in search of the mineral that rendered Brentonico famous.
A loop through the Parco del Monte Baldo. Descend from the San Valentino pass toward the pastures of Malga Pianeti. Then continue though the beech tree forest to discover the history of the mineral that rendered Brentonico famous. The terre verdi (green soils) was actually extracted from the areas quarries, then processed and sold all throughout Europe, and was even used for painting the facades of the stately palaces of Verona. Then climb back up the valley until reaching the Rifugio Fos-ce where you can rest or just take a break. Return to Passo di San Valentino along an easy road. A possible deviation upon the return: From Rifugio Fos-ce to Bès and back from the “Sentiero attrezzato delle Vipere”.
