Punto panoramico Passo Sella
An imposing atoll of rock with the most incredible nuances that emerges from a green expanse of woods and meadows: this is how the Sella group appears, around which the Ladin valleys close with their unique linguistic and cultural unity.
Passo Sella is one of the most famous passes in the Dolomites. Dominated by the splendid Sella Towers (with the "Locomotive") and the Mesules barrier, it offers you an unforgettable panoramic view also of the Sassolungo. The pass joins Val di Fassa to Val Gardena, through the state road n. 242 that goes up from Canazei. In winter it is a strategic location to access the Skitour Sellaronda, crossing the slopes of the Dolomiti Superski area. In summer it is ideal for a day of hiking, climbing and biking (road bike or mountain biking). The Sella group, tall, compact, bordered by towers, a little flat at the top, is one of the favorite destinations for hikers with the ascent from Sass Pordoi to Piz Boè, at 3,152 meters above sea level, to embrace with your eyes the peaks that have marked the history of international mountaineering. Once the pass is down, it hits the natural area known as Città dei Sassi (the City of Stones), a labyrinth of boulders that leads to the Rifugio Comici.
