Museo della Guerra 1915-1918
Small findings from the Great War on the Marmolada
This museum showcases a small yet interesting private collection focussed on the Great War fought in the Marmolada. It is housed in a building next to the Alla Seggiovia mountain-hut near the artificial basin of Fedaia, on the Pass bearing its name (the cable car for Pian dei Fiacconi on the Marmolada glacier sets off from here). The items are displayed in two rooms and have been collected by the De Bernardin family of Rocca Pietore.
Over the years, the family has recovered numerous different objects dating back to the First World War, including binoculars, helmets, a field-kitchen, uniforms, medals pins and coins. They have resulted from searching the battle fields first hand, and from exchanges with other collectors.
The collection is completed by some original films, photographs, postcards and by one of the most supplied specialized book-shops in Italy.
TIMETABLES: from mid-May to September every day 10 am-12.30 and 2 pm-5.30 pm; Closed on Tuesday.
