The Malmadur company stages "The greatest tragedy of humanity" in the archaeological site "Villa di Orfeo".
On Monday, November 18, 2024 at 8:30 pm, at the archaeological site "Villa di Orfeo" in Trento, the Malmadur company will present the show "The greatest tragedy of humanity", a unique experience that combines theater and history in an evocative setting among the Roman ruins.
The show, selected in 2022 by the Platform for the Circuitation of the Professional Show in Trentino-Alto Adige, is an unmissable opportunity to immerse yourself in an evening of culture and reflection in a place full of charm.
Below are the dates of the shows
- Monday 18 November, 8:30 pm (open to the public)
- Tuesday, November 19, 10:00 am (reserved for schools)
The greatest tragedy of humanity is a work produced by Malmadur and Evoé!Theatre, with drama and direction by Jacopo Giacomoni (in collaboration with Gaia Bautista), and performed by David Angeli and Yoko Yamada.
The show is a performative device that invites the audience to reflect on the perception of pain and tragedy, leading viewers to vote for what they consider "the greatest tragedy of humanity". As the company explains, the work "spectacularizes the spectacularization of suffering", starting from daily events, such as the loss of a cell phone, to universal themes, such as betrayal, epidemics and genocides.
The work explores the way in which suffering is represented, questioning the media spectacle of pain and its perception by the public. "How does the perception of pain change depending on the means used to represent it? What tragedy embodies the limit of this perverse game?”
The show, a finalist in the NdN – Network Dramaturgia Nuova 2020 competition, was carried out with the support of important regional theatrical realities such as the Teatro Stabile in Bolzano, the Centro Servizi Culturali S. Chiara and the Coordinamento Teatrale Trentino.
The performance on Tuesday 19 November, at 10:00 am, will be dedicated exclusively to schools.
