Concert of Moena’s municipal band
Musical evening with the municipal band of Moena performing in the picturesque hamlet of "Forno"
The Municipal Band of Moena will perform, in a pleasant and cheerful repertoire, at 9 p.m. in front of the small church of San Lazzaro, in the pretty hamlet of "Forno". Crossed by the "Valsorda" stream that descends from the Latemar group, it is one of the most populated hamlets of Moena, from which it is about 4 km away, and has a mining past. The concert is free.
From the mid-1800s, the band became a constant presence in the life of the village, constituting one of the main elements for every festivity and occasion, both religious and civil. Important was the visit of Archduke Charles Ludwig of Habsburg in 1858 to Cavalese, for which the presence of the band was requested and where the idea of performing in uniform was born. After a few interruptions during the First and Second World Wars, the band restarted stronger than before, thanks also to the new Maestro Luigi Canori. A well-known composer and musician from Moena, he created the song "Forti e baldi" (Strong and Brave), which is still performed today as the opening piece of summer concerts. The group, characterised by a red, white and blue uniform, has been directed by Maestro Roberto Silvagni since 2020. For some years, moreover, in collaboration with the local music school "Il Pentagramma", it has been organising training courses for adults and young people to learn how to play an instrument; the aim is not only to gather new recruits to join the band, but above all to transmit and share the passion for music. After all, the band succeeds in uniting generations, from the very young to the very old, and different professional experiences. It is an important expression of the identity heritage of the Moenese community, which is constantly searching for new horizons and musical genres to draw inspiration from.
In case of rain, the concert will be held at the "Navalge" theatre.
