Feast of Saint Lawrence
Parade and concert by the brass band "Mùsega de Poza" to celebrate the patron saint of Pera
The celebrations for Pera's patron saint, St Lawrence, begin at 9.15 p.m. with the traditional parade of the municipal brass band. Saint Lawrence, a Christian martyr from the 3rd century, is also venerated in Val di Fassa for his unshakeable faith and sacrifice. A deacon of the Church of Rome, he distributed the community's goods to the poor and faced martyrdom with courage, suffering torture on a gridiron.
"Mùsega de Poza". It was 1933, when eight young people from Pozza, driven by a passion for music, founded a band, breaking away from that of Vigo. Over time, the formation grew, including the admission of the first women in the 1970s, and developed thanks to the efforts of Paolo Cincelli. Today, the municipal brass band, directed by Maestro Giancarlo Dorich, has almost seventy members in uniform and continues to celebrate Ladin culture with local performances in and outside the region.
The procession starts from the Hotel Europa and will then reach the parish church, where it will perform its final concert. In case of bad weather, the concert will be held at the events pavilion in Pozza.
