Dancing evening with the Folk Group of Canazei
Under the stars, the Folk Group of Canazei performs typical choreographies of the Ladin and South Tyrolean traditions, accompanied by the cheerful notes of the accordion
The performance opens by waving the flag of the seven colours, representing the municipalities of Val di Fassa, and then continues with group dances and dances in pairs that tell of ancient rites and customs. The costumes of the dancers, men and women, are colourful, finely adorned and rich in precious details. In the past, the movements were learnt around the hearth during the long winter months, and then put into practice during Carnival, the only time of year when farmers could forget the hard work in the fields and celebrate carefree. Although there is already evidence of this in 1920, it was after the Second World War that the need arose to keep the valley's traditions alive, leading to the formation of the first folk groups, including that of Canazei, active since 1974.
Monday, 10 July at 9.15 p.m. in the Piaza de Comun square (tourist office). Free admission. In case of bad weather, the performance will be held in the events pavilion.
